Hello How Have You Been

After a summer of interning, it’s been a little tricky to get back in the swing of school. I had a great time at Mascot (the place I interned at) and I’m hoping to further my skills in these last two semesters of college. I might even try to get a local internship for my spring semester, although I wonder how that will work with my schedule. It’s time to brush off my resume and update my portfolio!

Designated Driver to the Rescue

For our most recent project we were to create a poster that discouraged underage drinking without using scare tactics. My professor is entering these posters into a competition. The rectangular box in the corner is the space for the logo of the organization that will be judging the posters. I’m a big lover of superhero movies […]

Internship Hunt

At the moment I’m trying to see if I can get a summer internship with a design agency to get some experience. It’s a bit scary, but a lot of the places I’m looking at are really creative and in some cases a bit goofy. There’s one place called Moosylvania that suggests to make a better resume you should put a little more personality in to it. This was their example:

Your resumé is sort of like a buttoned-up personal ad or dating website profile.  Would you want to date this?

College Graduate. Enjoys human interactions and marketing jargon. Well suited for Adobe Creative Suite.

OR this?

Ohio State Super-Alum. Thrives in group settings. Enjoys creative thinking. Well suited because I use to work at Men’s Warehouse (aka hilarious).

I think my Typography professor would glare at me if I did something like that (sorry, Doug. I changed my resume a little after reading that). Hopefully every place I apply to is just as free-spirited.

It’s 2014!

Usually I never have a resolution for New Year’s because they seem a little unrealistic to me, but I think I’m going to try one out this year. I’m going start trying new things, even if they’re small or seem insignificant. At some point I have to get out of my comfort zone.

Something from Last Year

A poster I made last year for my Intro Typography course. We were given the name of a graphic designer and had to try and imitate their style. The two things that really stuck out to me about David Carson was that he made his own rules in terms of design and at one point […]
